Bond Solon Expert Witness Conference, just over a month away.

We are really looking forward to the Bond Solon Expert Witness Conference, which takes place on Friday 8 November, now just over a month away.

Robert Ward CBE KC (Hon) of the Criminal Cases Review Commission has just confirmed that he will be speaking at the conference. The Commission is the independent body that investigates potential miscarriages of justice in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Many cases that are reviewed involve expert evidence and Robert has been briefed to discuss how expert evidence can help or hinder a case. The insights from his session will benefit experts who act in civil, criminal and family cases.

Also the Chief Executive of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Paul Philip, responsible for regulating the professional conduct of solicitors. Results from surveys have revealed many potential problems in the relationship between experts and solicitors from fees and instructions to undue pressure to “improve” an opinion. Sam Townend KC, The Chair of the Bar, will discuss the relationship between experts and barristers and how they can work more effectively together. We have our ever-popular Annual Legal Update as well as a host of other interesting sessions. Do have a look at the excellent conference line-up.

The Bond Solon Expert Witness Survey has now closed, and we are currently collating the results. These will be published on the day of the conference and there are some very interesting initial findings! Thanks to all who completed the survey.

You have the option to attend in-person at our Westminster venue or to join the conference remotely. The cost for in-person is £315 + VAT and for virtual it’s £285 + VAT.

If you are unable to watch the talks live on the 8th November, please note that all of the speakers’ talks are being recorded and can be watched at your leisure on the conference app after the event if you purchase a virtual ticket.
