Dear Experts,
we are delighted to let you know that we have two further eminent speakers confirmed for the Expert Witness Conference on Friday 8 November 2024.
We look forward to chairing a heated discussion between a top litigator and a top expert witness on the following thought provoking topic: Experts are from Mars and Solicitors from Venus. Can their relationship ever be harmonious?
The debate will address common issues that arise when solicitors and experts work together, such as:
A lack of clarity over what is required in letters of instruction (solicitors) or failure to meet the brief (experts)?
Conflicting agendas - solicitors’ determination to win the case versus experts’ impartiality.
Unrealistic milestones (solicitors) or failure to fulfil work in allotted time (experts)?
Expect a lively debate which will address the typical problems and pitfalls that solicitors and experts encounter at each stage of litigation. We will be inviting audience participation, as we wish to hear from delegates about the issues they have experienced when working with instructing solicitors.
Our speakers will deliver clear, step-by-step guidance to help you to improve your working relationships with instructing solicitors.
Speaking for solicitors, I have invited Julian Acratopulo, the Head of the International Commercial Litigation Group at Clifford Chance LLP. The partnership is a British multinational law firm with headquarters in London, is a member of the Magic Circle and ranks as one of top ten largest law firms in the world. Julian advises on a wide range of contentious matters including general corporate, commercial and financial litigation and global regulatory investigations. He has also been the President of the London Solicitors Litigation Association and has instructed many expert witnesses in his career.
Speaking for experts is Haydn Kelly, a consultant podiatrist and expert witness experienced in international medico-legal and forensic matters. Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) accredited, he has a degree in Podiatric Medicine; Fellowships in Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow. Haydn is a former elected Dean of Podiatric Surgery (UK). His book on Forensic Gait Analysis was published in 2020. His clinical career in Harley Street spans more than three decades and his global consultancy work includes extending the uses of gait analysis and innovation in medical IT and processing capabilities.
