Douglas Macmillan is the lead for breast cancer and breast surgery at the internationally renowned Nottingham Breast Institute where he has been a consultant breast surgeon for over 15 years.

Specialist medicolegal experience in delay in diagnosis, breast injury, breast surgery and breast reconstruction.

Expert in all types of breast disease management and breast surgery, being a frequent invited speaker, demonstrator and faculty member at many national and international breast meetings, conferences and Royal College of Surgeons courses. Director of the International Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery Congress (ORBS). NICE clinical guidelines in breast cancer committee member.

Extensively published in journals (over 150 articles) and written several book chapters (over 20), mostly relating to breast cancer prognosis and breast cancer surgery. Provides expert advice to several authorities, journals, charities, grant awarding bodies and legal firms including the Royal College of Surgeons, Health Care Commission, Scottish Health Care Ombudsman and the GMC.
