Dr Hilary Livingston was appointed consultant psychiatrist and honorary clinical senior lecturer to the Royal Alexandra Hospital on 1st June 1987. Her main clinical interests are the assessment, investigation and management of severe psychiatric illness in elderly people Dr Livingston also has special expertise in the psychiatric impact of trauma. She has assessed over 1500 personal injury claimants, both pursuers and defenders (claimant/defendant) to prepare medical reports and has also received instructions in terms of Woolf rules. Dr Livingston is also experienced in criminal injury compensation claims and childhood sexual abuse claims. She assessed and subsequently reviewed three years later, claimants in Lockerbie following the terrorist disaster in that town. These studies have been published in the scientific literature. She has also assessed litigants following the Stockline disaster and the Virgin train derailing accident, in addition to many road traffic incident victims, and industrial injury and medical negligence claimants Dr Livingston has considerable medical teaching experience and research interests.
