Professor Allen-Mersh is Professor of Gastrointestinal Surgery Imperial College, London and, Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon BUPA Cromwell Hospital, London.

He is an accredited specialist in General Surgery, including emergency surgery. He has sub-specialised in Gastrointestinal Surgery, in particular Colorectal Surgery.

Professor Allen-Mersh has expert witness experience and has undertaken specific training initially attending Bond Solon Expert Witness Training Course in 1994. He was a founder member of the Expert Witness Institute in 1996. He is a member of the Faculty of Expert Witnesses for Doctors. He is an associate member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). He has regularly attended teaching and update conferences on personal injury assessment and medico-legal practice.

Professor Allen-Mersh has published widely. He has edited two text books of surgery and contributed chapters to more than 20 textbooks of surgery, cancer and gastrointestinal disorders. He has published more than a hundred papers in peer-reviewed medical journals.


Training

Professor Allen-Mersh has regularly attended teaching and update conferences on personal injury assessment and medico-legal practice. He has given invited talks on various aspects of gastrointestinal conditions at the annual meetings of AVMA and APIL. He attended the Specialist Info Advanced Medico-Legal Course in June 2015
