Mr Marco Scarci is a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon qualifying from University G. D’Annunzio in Italy in 2001. Subsequently he has pursued postgraduate training in UK and Canada.
Mr Scarci has been a Consultant for over ten years and is currently a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at Imperial College NHS Trust based in Hammersmith, London. He also works in the private sector at The Harley Street Clinic.
He runs a busy clinical practice which focuses upon the treatment of both cancerous and benign conditions of the lung and chest wall, using minimally invasive surgical techniques. He is also on the trauma rota at St Mary’s Hospital treating patients with acquired chest injuries.
In addition to his clinical commitments, Mr Scarci has developed and continues to run a successful International Thoracic Oncology Symposium and was involved in the leadership of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
Mr Scarci maintains an active academic interest and has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He continues to research, publish, and lecture in the field of single-port surgery and chest wall conditions, having contributed to numerous chapters and published four books to date on these topics. He is a recognised authority on pectus deformity repair.
In addition to his own academic interests, Mr Scarci is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Thoracic Diseases and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and is the Chief Editor of Frontiers in Thoracic Surgery. He is regularly asked to review articles for inclusion into the most prestigious journals of cardiothoracic surgery.

Mr Scarci has undertaken medicolegal work for over ten years for a wide range of chest conditions, including chest wall deformities, fractured ribs and cancers. He has received training at Bond Solon, (in Excellence in Report Writing) and can provide reports in a short turnaround time. He is normally able to see clients within 24 hours if needed and prepare a report within a week (subject to other commitments/annual leave). The time taken for the report is approximately 4–6 hours work but he can supply an approximate fee once full instruction and medical records for review are received. His hourly rate is £275 per hour. His work split is claimant defendant 80/20%.He has completed Bond Solon Expert Witness training and can provide expert advice on breach of duty, causation, condition and prognosis.
He takes direct instructions from solicitors and also works through a number of specialist medicolegal agencies.
Mr Scarci’s current claimant to defendant ratio is 70:30. He also accepts joint instructions.
