Mr Crawford Murray undertakes expert witness work in aviation certification, structures and cabin safety. Mr Murray is Director at Part 21 Services, a company set up to run his consultancy, contract and training business.
His experience cover the following areas;
- Has worked for aircraft manufactures (Airbus), Operators (Virgin Atlantic, GB Airways), MRO/Design Organisations (Jet Aviation, Vector Aerospace MMRO, MAC Interiors, Multiflight amongst others).
- Set up and ran his own Design organization Part 21 Solutions Ltd and after Brexit Part 21 Solutions SAS from 2019 to 2023.
- Responsibility for the design and certification of repairs and modifications on various aircraft and rotorcraft covering Structures and Cabin Interiors.
- Compliance Verification Engineer for Structures and Cabin Safety with experience on many types of Small and large Aircraft and rotorcraft.
- Previously an EASA Form 4 holder – Head of Design and Chief of the Office of Airworthiness for Pt21 Solutions.
- CAA Form 4 holder – Chief of the office of Airworthiness.
- Expert witness on claims concerning accident damage and certification aspects of contracts.
- Team leader of an Airline Technical Services department including involvement in the setting up of the department.
- Aircraft Acquisitions and returns of various types, including Specification of aircraft standard for new deliveries.
- Part M experience for an operator maintaining airworthiness through assessment of Service Bulletins and other OEM data as well as airworthiness directives.
- Writing company procedures including Engineering Departmental Procedures relating to EASA Part 21 and specific procedures for weight and balance control.
- Liaison with insurance company representatives regarding claims for structural damage.
- Providing EASA Part 21 and certification specification training .
Mr Murray was a representative on the VAA Engineering Staff Committee from 2000 – 2003, the reps chairperson and committee representative on the company Forum from mid 2000 until 2003 and was involved with major company policy decisions including negotiating the redundancy policy post 9/11, participating in grievances and disciplinaries as well as mediating between staff and management in local issues.
He also provides EASA Part 21 and Certification related training across all types of fixed wing aircraft and rotorcraft. Customers have included SRTechnics, AeroAsia, IcelandAir, Norwegian Special Missions, J&C Euro and the German Military Airworthiness Authority.
