Dr Iqbal is a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist based in Manchester.
Dr Iqbal has over 30 years’ experience practicing in general adult and old age psychiatry; working as a consultant for over 20 years with a wide range of experience in hospital, the community and different jurisdictions in the UK. He has undertaken 5000+ reports, assessment undertaken nationwide in 1 – 3 weeks.
Dr Iqbal has expertise in all areas of general adult psychiatry, psychosis, mood disorder, trauma, personality disorder, anxiety disorders, eating disorder, addiction, older adult psychiatry including cognitive impairment, dementia, capacity assessments including testamentary capacity, presentations of psychiatric disorder on old age.
Dr Iqbals career in medicolegal work has been enhanced by experience in the following:
• Working in the court diversion scheme preparing reports for the court for the mentally ill offender (schizophrenia, substance misuse, personality disorder)
• Immigration issues mental disorder (dementia) clients requiring re-joining their family
• Capacity assessment and DoLS assessments and reports (organic brain disease - including dementia -with challenging behaviour).
• Family work, treating and writing reports on complex cases with Emotionally Unstable Personality disorder
• Cross examining evidence and tribunal reports through my role in the Ministry of Justice.
• Training and experience in writing medico-legal reports
