Details

Mr Alexander Liam Sims is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 16 years’ experience in postgraduate medicine in diverse NHS settings. He has built an in-depth awareness surrounding diagnosis of clinical disorders of bones, joints and soft tissues as well as associated treatment modalities. He is Clinical Lead for Major Trauma North Devon.

As a fellowship-trained arthroplasty surgeon Mr Sims has broad operative experience of arthroplasty, periarticular and periprosthetic injuries and complex trauma including pelvic trauma. With 2 years’ experience as a consultant surgeon within the NHS he has over 2,800 surgical procedures recorded.

Mr Sims has Post CCT experience in complex general and pelvic & acetabular trauma. He evaluates and manages trauma patients with a broad range of complex injury patterns. His subspecialties include lower limb arthroplasty, including peri prosthetic injuries; periarticular injuries; trauma & clinical research.

He has completed a Master’s Degree in Orthopaedic Engineering with Cardiff University. This has provided the opportunity to obtain a firm grasp of basic sciences whilst developing research and writing skills. 

Mr Sims is widely published and has made many presentations.
