Dr Emily Jane is an experienced Chartered Psychologist. After ten years in the youth and community sector Emily trained as an educational psychologist at Exeter University and in 2013 she founded UsefulPsychology (Independent Practitioner Psychologist). She is a certified PACE trainer and Experienced Practice Supervisor (Consultant in Training) registered with the DDP Institute, the registration body for Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.
Benefiting from 20 years experience of working with families and children Dr Jane offers a systemic and in depth assessment of children and their families for the courts. For seven years Dr Jane wrote and delivered the multiagency workforce training in Child Sexual Exploitation and Child Sexual Abuse for the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Safeguarding Children Board in partnership with creative professionals. She provides psychological case work supervision to professionals and regularly contributes to various conferences and projects.
DrJane has undertaken expert witness work since 2019. She has completed many court assessments (totalling over 100 individuals) since this time, including assessment for the high court. Cases including child sexual abuse, child physical abuse, neglect, emotional abuse, child sexual exploitation, child criminal exploitation, adult mental health, divorce and triangulation, domestic abuse, neurodevelopmental disorders, parents with intellectual disabilities, domestic abuse, and substance misuse and dependency.
Dr Jane is valued by solicitors for the extra mile taken, reliability of delivery and depth of reporting.
