Anne is a qualified general, paediatric and psychiatric nurse with significant experience at management level within these disciplines for over twenty years before entering private practice.
She has over 35 years’ experience in healthcare and has been in Occupational Health and Safety Practice since 1999. Anne holds a Degree Level Qualification in Safety, Health and Welfare at work from University College Cork, and a Diploma in Counselling Skills (NUI). Anne has completed Legal Studies (NUI) to support her Practice and is also Affiliated to the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants this supports the Legal Elements of her practice.
Within her remit in the workplace Anne practices as a nurse advisor / Case Manager in Occupational Health to the private sector across a diverse range of industries. Within this role she inadvertently became an Occupational Health Nurse and Risk Management Expert to the legal process, for both Plaintiff and Defence briefs, with a split of 80 Plantiff – 10 Defense – 10 Joint.
Anne has expertise in reviewing medical documentation in personal injury and medical negligence cases. She also forensically examines and evaluates medical records for the Coroners Court. Within her role she evaluates, interprets and condenses medical records in regard to best practice guidelines, codes of practice and expected standards of care.
Anne has been instructed as a Fact Witness and as a nurse researcher in civil cases including high profile cases in the Republic of ireland, Northern Ireland, UK and USA.
Anne is a recognised associate to the insurance industry in both Occupational Health and Safety. She is often commissioned to case manage, adjudicate or mediate in regard to complex workplace injuries or to examine medical files forensically for transparency or fraud in personal injuries cases.
She is qualified in legal studies (NUI) and has undertaken specialist expert witness training with La Touché Training and Bond Solon. Anne takes instruction throughout the UK including Ireland and Internationally.
Anne is a part time lecturer in Emergency Medical Planning at University College Cork (NUI) on the Safety Health and Welfare at Work programmes. She has developed a training programme for a corporation of Nursing Homes and Private Hospitals for the legal pitfalls in medical documentation and compliance for nurses in line with the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA) and Joint Commission International (JCI) standards.
