David John Knight a Chartered Building Surveyor and Valuer, a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Director of Knight Surveys Ltd. He qualified in 1990.
His early experience was gained working for the NHS, designing and overseeing building projects (mostly refurbishment/ upgrading schemes) from inception to completion. He gained private sector experience in Architectural practice and later in private Surveying practice working for twenty years, independently, as David J Knight Chartered Building Surveyors and Valuers. He merged his business In October 2014, and became a Director of Knight Grindrod Ltd – an independent RICS regulated firm of Chartered Building and Valuation Surveyors.
Over four decades David has gained considerable experience of inspecting and reporting upon buildings, construction defects, failures and remedial works in the West Yorkshire area and beyond. A RICS Registered Valuer and he has extensive experience of the valuation of residential properties in Leeds and surrounding areas.
David has a broad range of experience in providing Expert Witness reports advising on technical building defects and failed building projects, disputes over standards of workmanship, adequacy and fitness for purpose of materials, project work and valuation issues.
Offering detailed building/ project cost advice in conjunction with a Quantity Surveying Consultant. Experience includes Residential Surveys and Valuations, Commercial Building Surveys, Condition Reports, Dilapidations advice, Specific Defect Reports, Party Wall issues, Development Appraisals, Feasibility studies, Project Management/advice and Client Representation for individual bespoke house design/construction.
Current commissions include the valuation of an individual detached residence for Matrimonial dispute purposes, a report on a partially collapsed industrial/ warehouse building including reinstatement cost advice and a report on extension works to a residential property with investigation and reporting on defective workmanship and materials, a schedule of repairs needed together with cost and valuation advice.
